Zenith Radio

This 1940's Zenith came to me with extensive grille damage, black staining on the top, veneer damage and extensive chipped veneer, dents and a patchy and degraded finish. I was able to restore the grille with identical wood so that the repairs are not visible. I  removed black staining  from the top walnut veneer, removed 90% of the dents, and restored the original color. It is now radiant under its nitrocellulose lacquer finish.

Chinese Rosewood Barrel Stools

19th Century Chinese Barrel Stools came to me very falling apart with many cracked joints.  The ancient finish had degraded to an unattractive greyish color and there were black stains on the borders of the top.  I repaired the puzzle-like joinery,  re-aligning the surfaces so the full effect would be a smooth exterior. The stools were then extremely solid. I removed the stains, conserved the original finish, and because no sanding was done the lovely honey-colored fading and patina remained.

Snapped Off Chair Leg

This Louis XVI style chair had its leg snapped off. Simply regluing the leg would not have been strong at all. I imbedded a hardened steel rod in the leg with epoxy and re-mated the break. The gesso and water gilt was then repaired with identical materials to make an invisible repair.
